The
South Carolina Power TeamThe South Carolina Power Team is the economic development alliance of the state-owned, electric utility, Santee Cooper, and the state's 20 electric cooperatives. Together, they provide power to more than 2 million South Carolinians.
With industrial electricity costs 20 - 30% lower than the national average, the South Carolina Power Team has been a part of attracting billions of dollars in capital investment and thousands of jobs to South Carolina.
PDEC is proud to partner with each county where we serve to assist in the enhancement of quality of life, and provide opportunities to the citizens of the Pee Dee Region.
NESA is a regional economic development
organization that serves a nine-county region in the northeast
corner of South Carolina. NESA's primary objective is to
significantly enhance the quality of life for residents of the
region by creating additional jobs and capital investment within
the existing industry base, recruiting new companies and expanding
tourism-related development.
With the largest electric system in South Carolina, the 20 electric cooperatives supply power to more than 625,000 customers - reaching every county in the state. Electric cooperatives provide industry incentive rates as well as loan and grant programs to encourage job creation. A host of energy related services are also available to ensure the highest power quality.
Santee
Cooper is the largest producer of electricity in South
Carolina and, based on sales, the 3rd largest publicly-owned
electric utility in the United States. In addition to serving as
the primary wholesale power supply to the 20 electric cooperatives,
Santee Cooper provides power directly to 160,000 customers in three
counties, to 32 large industries and to two cities. Santee Cooper
has a combined power supply capability of more than 5,700
megawatts. Additional generation capacity is planned for the years
ahead. Santee Cooper was the first utility in South Carolina to
offer Green Power - electricity generated by renewable resources -
to its customers and continues to pursue renewable energy projects
throughout the state.
