Before the storm hits...

Pee Dee Electric starts preparing way before a hurricane, ice storm or other disaster hits the Pee Dee. We moniter the weather daily and review our emergency plans periodically.

All employees work during a major outage. Repair work continues around the clock until all power is restored.

As a storm approaches, emergency procedures are initiated that include scheduling, increasing inventory of equipment and supplies, coordinating with other electric cooperatives for additional help, and stationing crews throughout our service area. (Also, employees make arrangements for the safety of their families.)  Additionally, inside employees work in the Control Room taking calls from member-owners, and assist in numerous other support activities.
